About - TikTok, also known as Douyin in China, is a short-form video-sharing focused social networking service owned by Internet technology Chinese company ByteDance. The social media platform allows users to create and share a variety of short-form videos of 15 seconds duration on topics such as dance, comedy, education and more. Douyin maintains a separate app for the Chinese market, while Tiktok is an international version, which was launched in September 2017 as TikTok in the international market; However, it became available worldwide only after a merger with another Chinese social media service, Musical.ly, on 2 August 2018. The user interface of TikTok and Douyin is almost the same but both the apps have no access to each other's content. Both the products are similar, but their features are not the same. As of October 2020, TikTok has crossed over 2 billion mobile downloads worldwide. The app Douyin was originally launched in September 2016 by Beijing, China-based company ByteDance, originally under the name A.me but within 3 months it was rebranded to Douyin in December 2016. ByteDance planned to expand overseas and was renamed TikTok in the international market.
